If the land and people aren’t thriving and healthy then the nation isn’t thriving and healthy

Listening to the Land Pilgrimage for Nature is a collective walk from London to the climate conference in Glasgow in November this year. We will gather stories, dreams and hopes from people we meet along the way and present to those in power a People’s Charter For The Land.

Together with us will walk theatre makers and artists who will curate this walk as an extended piece of promenade theatre that will result in a final performance presented at COP26 in Glasgow, created by the people and the land, that is for and about the people and the land.

Your voice for nature

We will collect views and observations from people and speak to experts on the way.

Would you like to walk with us for some of the pilgrimage?

The pilgrimage will set off from London on Saturday 4th September and we will be arriving in Edinburgh 23rd October. The route is marked out below on Google Maps and once everything has been finalised we will also be sharing a timetable of our locations along the route and events.

You are invited to come along and join us anywhere along the route. You will be responsible for yourself and will need to arrange your own accommodation and food, but each day you can take part in the walk and participate in any rehearsals, performance sharings and community discussions that are taking place.

If you decide to walk with us for an extended period of time then here is the kit list we are working from.

Meet the climate negotiators

COP refers to the decision-making body of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). This is where governments, observers and climate experts from around the world come together to agree on how to tackle climate change.

The UK holds the presidency for this year’s COP26 and has made nature a top priority. They are keen to hear for ways to kick-start a just rural transition towards sustainable land use to benefit people, climate and nature.

We will deliver our messages from the land and the people we meet on the way. We want to hear from you.

The Final Performance

We believe that the best way to inspire change is to connect with people on a creative and emotional level. Working in partnership with Pianodrome, the world's first 100-seater amphitheatre constructed entirely from pianos, the pilgrims will develop and present a piece of performance art to the delegates at COP26.

Delivering a People’s Charter For The Land

We will meet with climate negotiators to deliver our charter, created by the people and the land, representing the views and needs of the people and the land.

Creating a Route Network

We will leave a legacy from the walk by connecting up like minded people and groups we meet along the way who can be of service to each other by sharing ideas, resources and support.
